MCA graphic designers had plenty o' work doing paste-up work for recording artists on: video tape labels, packaging, press kits, record labels, album covers, cassette labels, concert posters, advertising, and tickets.

My favorite task was creating dynamic promotional illustrations and lettering for MCA Universal publications.
Our VP came up some fun ideas for promotional swag and I always enjoyed creating it!

In the 1980s, MCA Records had several popular music videos that became iconic, including "Thriller" by Michael Jackson, "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits, "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, and "Take On Me" by A-ha.
AMC Theatres, Universal Pictures Forge Historic Deal - meant new publicity opportunities, press kits, posters and advertising.

While artists performed, Al Ebner VP Publicity kept us tethered to our drafting tables 24/7.
Inside are b+w stills, press info, synopsis & character packets
Press Kit folders contained black & white stills with printed detail and descriptions on them
Ticket designs were hand created "paste-up", & so challenging to squeeze lots of info into a tiny space
Creating cassette labels, record labels & album covers were a daily task.
Back in the 80's, cassettes were small while cassette players were BIG and the bigger the better!
